The ambition of this publication was to recapitulate the furniture industry in Slovakia, the development and changes that occurred after 1989. Of course, not everything is traceable and since it is a live process, it could happen that some data is no longer relevant. We also admit that we may not have been able to list all furniture companies. Research has confirmed that most of these new furniture companies were established between 1990 and 2010 and are still active today. The next decade did not favor the creation of new furniture companies, and if so, they are exceptions. And it was a big surprise for us that in 2022 the company DUBovina was established, which works with massif and thus opens up space for the start of other young companies.
One of the main goals was to research the applicability of designer graduates in the given field in furniture companies. We have to state that for such a long period it is a relatively small number. The outcome of the pedagogical process and the application of successful graduates in practice is an expected and natural process, and if it does not happen, the question arises why?
