The AFAD Buddy System is a peer-support programme that connects first-year Bachelor’s students—and soon international students as well—with students in higher years of the respective study programmes. It helps new students adapt to life at AFAD, supports their mental health and well-being, and strengthens community ties across year groups.
* I Want a Buddy * I Want to Become a Buddy *

As a buddy, you will have the opportunity to help new students find their way around the school, understand their studies and how their department operates, become part of the VŠVU community, and build new connections. You can also provide support and direct them to the appropriate form of professional assistance if they encounter more challenging situations during their studies.

Starting university can be a challenging time for new and international students. Adapting to a new form of study, a new group of classmates, and new teachers often goes hand in hand with finding your way around a new city, building new social connections, and discovering your place within a new community.
Buddies are here to help you find your way around VŠVU and adapt to your new environment more easily and quickly. They also provide a link to the existing school community, a source of support, and sometimes even friendship. Each department has its own buddies selected from among its senior students.
If you would like to connect with a buddy from your department, please contact the buddy programme coordinators:
Please remember that being a buddy is a form of student volunteering. Buddies offer their time and support alongside their own studies and other personal commitments. Please respect their time, availability, and boundaries.
The buddy system is based on mutual respect and consideration for the boundaries of both the buddies and the students seeking their support and assistance.
