Practical information for a student about the course of study and study courses

The Academic year at AFAD always starts on September 1 of the given calendar year and finishes on August 31 of the following year. The studies in the given academic year are divided into winter and summer semester. Each semester consists of a teaching period whose length is from 12-14 weeks and an examination period. AFAD follows a credit system of study based on the principles of European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which is universally accepted.

Content of studies for an individual study program and year is determined by a study plan which consists of compulsory, compulsory optional and optional courses. Courses listed in the study program depending on the sequence of the courses are divided into two groups, i.e. courses which are conditioned by the successful completion of other courses and independent courses. Individual courses are assessed by credits – numerical values – which express the amount of work required for completing the course.
