Barbora Lungová is a laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award

Congratulations to our PhD student Barbora Lungová on receiving the Jindřich Chalupecký Award!


 

Barbora Lungová focuses on painting and explores how power, patriarchy and gender stereotypes are portrayed through it. Her work combines insights from film studies with visual experiments. Recently, she has also been working on ecological themes and so-called critical gardening. Her main projects include the Rainbow Garden, a space that connects queer culture and biodiversity. She is a PhD student at the AFAD ubder the supervision of Klaudia Kosziba with the topic "Good Fetishism".

According to the jury, her work is committed, bold and strong, but also reflects defiance and vulnerability. Her connection to community, feminist themes and social relations gives her work relevance, authenticity and depth.

The Jindřich Chalupecký Award, an award for Czech visual artists, has announced the names of this year's winners. Dominik Adamec, Barbora Lungová and Karolína Rossí were awarded on Friday 14 February at the Atelier Hrdinů in Prague. The group exhibition will be held from 25 September at the Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague. The foreign guest of the autumn exhibition will be the Dutch painter Kinke Kooi.
