Annotation:

Drawing is generally perceived as the immediate transfer of an idea to paper. Working with glass, however, resists. The current exhibition Line – Space by Pavlína Šváchová presents fragile glass drawings that emerge from the surface into the space. The artistic search here is primarily tied to the basic starting material - a simple glass rod - a basic line or line, which is transformed into a spatial structure by the action of heat. The properties of the material and the specific method of its artistic processing become for the author a limitation, a challenge and an object of experimentation, which gradually brings her to other media areas (object, drawing, installation). Every line, every "stroke" takes on a new dimension here and creates a dynamic dialogue with the space and the viewer. The drawing becomes a small sculpture.

The works presented at the exhibition balance between control and spontaneity, between planned and accidental, between surface and space, between design and free creation. The technology of hand-shaping glass above the kahan (lamp glass in Czech) is used here not only as a tool, but also as a theme, medium, content carrier or "collaborator". Due to the fact that in the Czech environment this technology is primarily associated with the production of relatively controversial decorative glass figures, it is the thinking about the figure or figure that becomes the subject of the author's thinking. The etymological ambiguity of the term figure (figure, figure, formula, scheme, poetic figure, etc.) prompts her to search for new ways of artistically grasping "lamp glass" and indicates a direction from the figure towards abstraction.
