Prednáška: The Information Front: Svedok vojny na Ukrajine
The Information Front is a ‘DIY' publishing collective that features the work of Ukrainian photographers, providing a platform for their diverse perspectives on the war. All profit from the sales of The Information Front goes to support the necessary work of independent media in Ukraine by directly funding the photographers themselves. Each Volume features a range of styles from early-career artists to seasoned photojournalists, all united in documenting the impact of war on their country. The Information Front believes that photography, especially documentary and photojournalism, plays a crucial role in learning about the violence inflicted and acts as a counter-measure to false truths and propaganda spreading.
Donald Weber
Donald Weber is a photographer. Prior to that, he was educated in environmental design and worked with Rem Koolhaas’s OMA in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Much of Weber’s work is concerned with making visible the technological, spatial, legal and political systems that shape our current condition – the infrastructures of power. He has been recognized with a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Lange-Taylor Prize, the Duke and Duchess of York Prize, and shortlisted for the Scotiabank Photography Prize, amongst other citations. His diverse photography projects have been exhibited as installations, exhibitions and screenings at festivals and galleries worldwide including the United Nations, Museum of the Army at Les Invalides in Paris, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Royal Ontario Museum.
He is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Photography at Aalto University, Finland, and co-founded the Master Photography & Society at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
His practice-based PhD is on the logistical landscape (the Port of Rotterdam) and how this particular land formation structures vision as bureaucratic (and how we might reconstruct the offical view).
