PechaKucha Night Bratislava 56 |
The 56th edition of PechaKucha Night Bratislava will present original projects representing utopian ideas, events or tendencies in architecture, design, visual arts and documentary film. It will focus on balancing between unrealistic and feasible visions, or on articulating seemingly unattainable goals that have been fulfilled to a certain extent. It will show how artists and creative professionals visualize their utopian ideas through their own original work. It will also touch on artistic reflection of the utopian possibilities of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
Participating authors:
- The BIOM project - A project connecting architecture with modern technologies and industrial processes, focused on the development of self-sufficient and ecological systems for the cities of the future.
- Denis Dobrovoda - Film director will present his feature-length documentary film Cathedral and the seemingly utopian element of the film's main protagonist's superhuman efforts to build a cathedral that rivals the Sagrada Família.
- Patrícia Chamrazová - Visual artist will present a selection of her projects, mainly audiovisual installations, playing with ideas about a utopian future inspired by posthuman philosophy.
- Přemysl Krejčík - Czech writer, educator and researcher in the field of literature will present his literary work and interest in the themes of utopia and dystopia as part of communist propaganda.
- Koma Modular Architectural company that perceives the principle of modularity as a huge opportunity to create a more sustainable and simpler world.
- Michaela Prablesková - Student of the Department of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava will present her projects addressing alternative versions of forms of reality, situations that did not happen, and stories that remained forgotten.
- Mária Beňačková Rišková - Cultural manager will present the Strategy of Culture and Creative Industries of the Slovak Republic 2030, which, despite the current events in culture, is still a valid document, whose goals are worth knowing and striving to fulfill.
- Attention, the SNG is falling! - A time-lapse documentary recording the Kafkaesque process of reconstruction of the Slovak National Gallery will be presented in the current context of the destruction of culture by its directors Jana Hrušovská Durajová and Lena Kušnieriková.
- Parallel Space - A documentary film, a study, but also research in the development phase, looking into possible parallel structures of existence, emerging in response to the current socio-political situation.
- Olja Triaška Stefanović - Visual artist will present her new art project Yutopislavia, which is an exploration of Yugoslavia and its relationship to the Non-Aligned Movement.
- Ausgang Studio - Creative group that, through author's projects moving on the border of reality and fiction, explores the current Anthropocene epoch and its connection with technological and social development.
- Dana Tomečková - Visual artist will present author's objects made of powdered materials, which often balance on the very edge of existence.
- X-Utopia - Innovative project will present a vision of the future of the region of Eastern Slovakia as a place with a better future for future generations.
