Graphic designer and head of the Typolab studio Pavol Bálik and illustrator Daniela Olejníková won the main prize at the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2024.
The book Myko, published by the Czech publisher Baobab, whose texts are written by Jiří Dvořák, illustrated by Slovak illustrator Daniela Olejníková and designed by Slovak graphic designer Pavol Bálik, won the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2024 in the Non-fiction category. This prestigious international exhibition of the best and most innovative illustrated books in the world, annually awards awards in several categories.
The Czech publisher Baobab has once again "starred", this time with an impressive book, which is a kind reporter from the world of mushrooms.
The author of the illustrations - Daniela Olejníková, one of the most prominent personalities of contemporary Slovak book illustration, is the recipient of several awards and currently devotes herself mainly to digital illustration, but likes to alternate it with other techniques (linecut, watercolor, acrylic).
Pavol Bálik, holder of many awards for book design, is the author and co-author of publications in the field of typography and font creation. He is also the organizer, co-organizer and realizator of exhibitions in the field of writing and typography at home and abroad.
