The textbook Renaissance of 19th century photography, with the subtitle Research, education, experiment, is an interdisciplinary project that includes photography, restoration and art history. The book consists of art studies that significantly deepen the knowledge of the history of Slovak photography of the 19th century, as well as research into photographic techniques, especially processing procedures, their characteristics and the possibilities of their restoration and archiving. The textbook is supplemented with reproductions of student works that mastered the photographic techniques of the 19th century and through which the students realized their free art projects. The intention of the project was to apply these techniques to contemporary photographic practice, to expand knowledge about the methods of restoring historical photographs, and in this way to connect the 19th century with the present in the students' works.
The textbook is part of the KEGA research and educational project "Renaissance of historical photographic techniques of the 19th century" 002VŠVU-4/2012, project managers: Jana Hojstričová, Bohunka Koklesová, Janka Križanová, Boris Kvasnica, Silvia Saparová.
