The publication presents the author's seven-year visual research on the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia - it tells a story about identity, about the joining and separating of nations, about one's own memory and past. In it, the author focused on the present past through abandoned monuments, monuments and memorial sites and visually analyzes the terms memory and forgetting in the context of the breakup of Yugoslavia. In the photographic essay, he connects the author's photographs, which were created between 2012 and 2019, with texts, family archives and archival newspapers. Visually, it tells the story of the remains of a country that no longer exists. The second part of the book contains essays by Martin M. Šimečka and Andrej Bán and art historians Milena Bartlova and Bohunka Koklesová, devoted to questions of identity, memory and forgetting, brotherhood and unity, or the political situation and changes in Eastern Europe after 1989.
