Žofia dubová:
in 2016, she finished studying painting in the studio of prof. Daniel Fischer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, during which she also completed an internship in a glass studio. In 2022, she defended her dissertation under the supervision of Assoc. prof. Emöke Vargová at VŠVU in Bratislava. She currently works as a pedagogue at the Department of Drawing at AFAD, where she also publishes. Žofie Dubová is one of the few solitary figures of young Slovak painting, whose work is captivating under all circumstances. Fragile and poetic, pleasing to the eye and conceptual, on the border between painting, drawing and installation, developed in various media on a strong intellectual foundation. The basis is a personal experience of the landscape and its artistic transformation into images. Dubová indisputably innovates and cultivates the best of the tradition of reflective and poetic landscape painting. It is not far from Zen art - timeless, existentially economical, carefully perfected over the ages for an ingenious balancing between the visual and the abstract. Dubová has been a sought-after painter since her student days, in Slovakia she has won a number of important awards for a young artist (Slovak Rector's Conference Award for Art 2020, Novum Foundation Award 2018, Painting of the Year 2017 - 1st place, etc.) She has many solo and group works exhibitions at home and abroad, her work is represented in private and public collections (Slovak National Gallery).
