About the exhibition

The 22nd edition of Design Without Borders explores the theme Object–Photo / Photo–Object, marking the bicentenary of photography. Bringing together design, photography and other artistic disciplines, the international exhibition is part of the Bicentenaire de la Photographie programme.

It features work by nearly 180 artists from more than 15 countries, with a particular focus on artists and university students from the V4 countries. It explores relationships between objects and photographic imagery, including connections between object design, jewellery and photography.

Among the VŠVU exhibitors are Nina Štefániková, Kristýna Španihelová, Peter Machata and Jana Machatová, whose work connects photography and jewellery; Mária Fulková, Zuzana Slušná Ondrejková and Júlia Benkovská, who work with textiles; Patrik Illo, head of the Glass Studio; as well as recent Design graduates Silvia Sukopová and Viktor Tabiš.

At the parallel event Budapest Jewellery Week, recent Jewellery alumni Ilarii Omelchenko and Klára Valušková, together with current student Nina Štefániková, will also present their work.
