Dvojstrana Katarína Poliačiková: Close to the language
The project Dvojstrana is a result of the collaboration between the Department of Theory and History of Art, Academic Library of the AFAD and MEDIUM Gallery. It is primarily focused on the presentation of the book as a medium, which connects literature with visual arts.

Katarína Poliačiková graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Her work oscillates between image and text. She is interested in subtle histories and nuances of the book. In the last years she has devoted her attention to writing and developing the authorial books. She created a newsletter Soft Boiled, which was published in September 2021. Her last project is the authorial publication A DAY, which she produced on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Bratislava City Gallery.
The project Dvojstrana is primarily focused on the presentation of the book as a medium, which connects literature with visual arts. Dvojstrana includes lectures, performance, readings and other creative outcomes of the authors from the fine arts, who have chosen the book as the means of the expansion of their work. We would like to mediate – both to the visitors of the gallery and library – the possibilities of the authorial attitudes and the possible „reading“ of the remarkable projects within two different contexts – extroverted and performative exhibition venue and more introverted, dialogical space of the library.
