Imro Vaško is a graduate of VŠVU in Bratislava, studio of Prof. Dusan Kuzma (1983). After returning from Fulbright Scholarship at Yale University in 1991, he founded the Laboratory of Architecture at VŠVU (until 2013). In 1998, he was a visiting professor at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). He has lectured and been a critic at several universities (Columbia University, Pratt Institute, RICE, Cornell University, City Colleague NY, Yale University, Die: Angewandte, AVU in Prague, TU in Liberec ...) Co-organized several international architectural events, seminars and workshops (ARCHFEST, WI: BRA, EAB, MeetUp ...) and lecture cycles (KAT VŠVU, UMPRUM Architecture Lecture Series 2021). He deals with the tendencies of Central European architecture and Parallel Modernism and was a co-author of a joint exhibition of the Czech and Slovak Republics at the 7th Biennial of Architecture in Venice (2000). Since 2011 he has been leading Studio A III at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (UMPRUM) in Prague, where he is currently the head of the Department of Architecture. In 2013, he co-founded the International Biennial of Experimental Architecture in Prague, exhibited academic research at the international exhibitions Design Week in Milan 2018, Ars Electronica in Linz 2019, Prague Designblok 2020 and is a co-architect of the UMPRUM Platform 21 Clauses and Diplomas project. He publishes in professional journals and is the author of the books Architecture of the Moving Image (2015) and The New Millennium 2000-2018: From the Fall of the Twins to the Death of Zaha Hadid (2021). He is an authorized architect of SKA, the author of several rewarded competition designs (Kollárovo námestie, Bratislavská náplavka…) and currently cooperates with the Šebo - Lichý architekti studio, where he co-authored several development projects (Gansberg, Čerešne, Kolísky, MamaPapa…), the GBC5 administrative lookout building or towers on Devínská Kobyla.
