More about the event

Photograph of a performance at Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava. A person walks near the statue of Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav with a large pink rectangular object covering their upper body; trees, a fountain and the monument are visible in the background.

The work is part of the international exhibition The Art of Interaction at the Bratislava City Gallery. During the open hour, students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, together with artist and educator Maja Štefančíková, will perform according to the artist’s instructions at Hviezdoslavovo Square.

The performance depends on the kindness of passers-by, as the students will be veiled. Stop by for a moment and experience something unique. The event is free of charge, and you may come and leave at any time during its duration.

Maja Štefančíková

Maja Štefančíková is a visual artist and performer. In her practice, she creates performative situations in which voice, movement and attention become tools for exploring relationships between human and non-human bodies.

Maja Štefančíková imitates a dog during a performance, posing on all fours beside a black dog in front of a large window overlooking a hilly landscape.

She works with subtle choreographies and live compositions that remain open to interruption, chance and the presence of others. She is an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she leads the Performance Laboratory.
