NEXTEXTIL

In the age of digital media, the role of craft does not fundamentally change, but its meaning is transformed. It is becoming increasingly clear that craft enables people to maintain a physical, sensory and critical relationship with the world.

Digital technologies are thus understood not as a replacement for craft, but as a new kind of tool.

The artist transforms the crafted object into a carrier of contemporary themes and stories. Traditional techniques can become a means of exploring questions of identity, memory, sustainability, the relationship between people and technology, and environmental attitudes.

Veronika Pátrovič Kočáriková: 3D printing on tulle. Detail of black raised marks and structures printed on a fine translucent textile.

The aim is not merely to preserve these techniques, but to actively develop them and seek ways in which traditional craft can respond to contemporary social, cultural and technological changes.
