"I am like every third person", event for Juraj Meliš's late life jubilee
We cordially invite you to the event "I am like every third person", which is being held on the occasion of the late jubilee of the sculptor and teacher Juraj Meliš. The accompanying program will take place on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 2:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the AFAD at Hviezdoslavovo námestie 18 in Bratislava.

3:00 p.m. discussion about the life and work of Juraj Meliš (guests: Ivan Jančár, Ľuba Belohradská, Rudolf Sikora, Ján Meliš, Alžbeta Capková; moderator of the discussion: Michaela Kacsiová)
17:00 recital of visual poetry by Juraj Meliš performed by Michael Fech and Petr Tilajčík
18:00 screening of short documentaries about Juraj Meliš (Richard Krivda: Great night music, Ivo Brachtl: JURAJ MELIŠ - WITHOUT TITLE)
19:00 symbolic presentation of the album to Juraj Meliš by his friends, colleagues from the artistic environment and graduates of his studio; Peter Roller: recitation of a poem dedicated to his friend Juraj Meliš

Throughout the afternoon, you will be accompanied by piano accompaniment performed by Andrej Benč.
Juraj Meliš (1942, Nové Zámky – 2016, Skalica),
is considered one of the most outstanding Slovak sculptors. Between 1960 and 1966, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in the figurative sculpture studio of prof. Jozef Kostka. He mainly worked with sculpture, monumental work, drawing and printmaking. He was one of the founding members of the Gerulata association. In the years 1999-2002, he was the head of the Department of Sculpture at the AFAD; in 1992 he was appointed a professor. He also taught externally at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (1973 – 1988). Among other things, he organized several exhibitions of Jozef Kostka's students and participated in the preparation of many albums. He had several solo exhibitions at home and abroad, participated in important collective exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad. Articles and studies have been published about his work; as well as monographs in 1993 and 2003 (authors Katarína Bajcúrová and Ivan Jančár).
