The work of Slovak visual artist Marek Kvetan (1976, Bratislava) is currently leaning towards tangible results and spatial realizations. The author's sculptures, objects and installations, together with frequently used found materials, are taken out of reality or inspired by it. By subtly changing the defined truths, he distorts the given values and opens up the multi-meaningful potential of the symbolism of materials and forms. Kvetan's work is characterized by a shrewd observational ability, he is inspired by the banality of ordinary days and cleverly reconfigures reality.
Current project Data storage 20.21. (2020 – 2022) naturally continues the author's strategy of redefining generally known meanings and rules. The large-scale installation, which, considering the aesthetic forms, but also Kvetan's past projects, could be the result of digital modeling and subsequent 3D printing, actually arose from the elementary technique of plaster casting. A close-up view reveals the physical imprints of hundreds of pieces of waste packaging materials that passed through the author's household during the lockdown period.
For the realisation of the project, a grant was provided from the budget of the capital of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, through the Bratislava City Foundation.
Realised with the financial support of the mayor of BRATISLAVA - PETRŽALKA
