About the exhibition

Wave, two. Three waves. Fourth wave. The butterfly feels that its weight is lightened with increasing physical effort (and the frequency of its wings). When it reaches a rate of between five and twelve flaps per second, it takes off. It drifts by bumping air molecules against each other. He flies through the countryside and scans nature. He smells nectar. He remembers nature through the genetic memory of his ancestors. He draws a simple linear drawing with his flight. It multiplies and becomes more complicated with the length of his flight. It flies in the same way as butterflies flew around Gothic temples under construction, or later around art nouveau facades. Its molecular makeup hasn't changed that much since its early Carboniferous ancestors. All this time they are actively vibrating their wings and directing the air flow.

Marco Rapant

Marco Rapant

is a young Slovak artist who has been active on the art scene since 2017. He has had several individual and collective exhibitions. He is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava at the Department of Printmaking and Other Media in the Studio of Free Printmaking. In his work, he is not limited by one medium, but creates in overlaps. As he says himself, he is like a seismometer of the times. He captures the energy and stimuli of his near and distant surroundings and records them on paper. As in his entire work, also in the conception of the exhibition "Air flow under the wings of butterflies", he focuses on nature, which, according to him, is "the purest form of freedom". The exhibition brings the visitor closer to the flight of a butterfly, which makes its way through air molecules. Here, the author connects physical laws with his own mysticism.
