What happens when a person tries to feel, think, and move like an animal?
As part of the Echoes of the Venice Biennale, performer Maja Štefančíková and her collective present an entirely new series of full-day performative situations in which we consciously enter the motor skills, physical traits, and behavioral patterns of other beings—disrupting hierarchical ideas of human superiority.
Through symbiotic learning, these performative actions expand empathetic embodiment with more-than-human entities—such as female mosquitoes or cohabitation with snails. By interpreting movement models, masking, or adapting behavior, hybrid constellations of bodies emerge, intertwining with objects, digital networks, and the audience’s experience.
This ever-changing coexistence in live situations develops aspects of perception, observation, and tracking, revealing hidden connections and interactions among participants as a form of performative ecology.
