Anatomy of Power

The body as a space of social, political, and technological struggles in performances of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The lecture *Anatomy of Power* focuses on performances from the 20th and 21st centuries that explore the body as a space of social, political, and technological struggles. It traces how the body in performance has transformed—from a source of energy in the avant-garde movements, to a battlefield of identity and pain, and finally into a hyper-controlled product of digital culture.

Maja Štefančíková

Maja Štefančíková is a visual artist and performer who creates temporary performative situations, primarily through movement and voice. She explores the body as a node of relationships in space and time—her works combine contemplation with playfulness. She creates long-lasting actions with fixed choreography that sensitively respond to stimuli from the surroundings. She currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she leads the Performance Laboratory.
