About the Event
What place does glass hold in contemporary art? Where do fine art, design, and traditional craftsmanship intersect today? And what role does tradition play in a world of constant innovation?
The evening will be hosted by two distinguished guests from the cultural and academic spheres:
Prof. PhDr. Peter Michalovič, PhD. – a Slovak philosopher, aesthetician, university lecturer, and curator. His long-standing work focuses on art theory, visual culture, and contemporary fine art. He is the author of numerous scholarly publications and more than 600 studies and articles, and has curated over a hundred exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad.
Josef Rauvolf – a Czech journalist, translator, and radio author. He is one of the most prominent Czech translators of Beat Generation writers. He served as editor-in-chief of the Czech edition of Rolling Stone magazine, collaborated with Czech Television and Czech Radio, and received the Josef Jungmann Award for his translation work.
Together, they will explore the themes shaping contemporary glass art today – the relationship between tradition and innovation, the boundaries between art, design, and craftsmanship, and the transformation of studio glass in the contemporary world. The evening will also include an opportunity to ask questions and meet the speakers informally.
