Performance of AFAD students at the artfair in Turin
This week, the 12th edition of the fair The Others will take place in Turin, Italy, which is co-curated by Lýdia Pribišová. As part of the performative program, in addition to other foreign groups, our students from the Department of Intermedia under the leadership of pedagogue and artist Maja Štefančíková will perform.

Slovak Performing Unit: Faster Than Light
What are the laws that govern the art world? How does the art operation work, how is the value of artworks determined and what challenges do world exhibitions bring? What are the current trends in the art world and how is public taste or the role of the audience changing? Is Art Fair the right place to make connections? And when is it time to stop for refreshments?
The artist Maja Štefančíková, who teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with students (Celestína Minichová, Silvia Sviteková, Alžbeta Štrbová, Andrea Tušimová, Veronika Verešová), will prepare a series of short performative entries for Art Fair - The Others. Through performative situations, they will draw the audience into interaction and try to sensitise their perception in the world of artistic operation, enrich their artistic experience and involve them in the process of creating an artwork.
Participation in The Others Art Fair was supported by the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

The Others is a revolutionary project, born with the aim of intercepting the language of the new generations and promoting emerging realities. It is an experimental show that presents the most innovative national and international artistic expressions.
The Others is an exhibition platform that fosters a more direct and immediate dialogue between artistic proposals and a young and varied public, presenting itself as a meeting place, a place for exchanging experiences, contacts and projects, where everyone can find a welcoming, sophisticated and unconventional cultural proposal.
The Others is an independent fair, the short-circuit of a self-referential art system, a proper “Factory” of small emerging realities, a privileged meeting place for the newest voices and the most bursting artistic trends.
The Others is a curatorial fair: the artistic direction is entrusted to a team of young curators in order to better interpret the languages and decipher the codes of the artistic expressions of the new generations and propose an avant-garde observatory on the global community of creative people.
The Others is a choice, a combative and perhaps a little surly, but constructive, provocative, eccentric alternative that is nourished by hope, determination and energy.
