About the project

BERNDORF SANDRIK is a company based on a long tradition of cutlery production. The topic of cooperation is the design and realisation of cutlery using 3D metal printing technology. The theme of the cutlery responds to the current progress of digital technologies in the field of 3D metal material printing.

New devices are changing the classic production and processing of metals, 3D printing is integrated with CNC technology, so metal printing and machining of complex geometries are situated in one device. For the designer, this process means greater freedom of form, the design of cutlery changes from flat 2D to 3D. The entire process of designing cutlery can be changed, there want be need for large investments in expensive molds and mechanical processing of metal. The design can perceive the individuality of consumers, regional peculiarities, different types of social dining…

Currently, 3D printed cutlery is not produced, consider the topic as a technological and artistic experiment inspiring a new kind of design for the classic theme of CUTLERY.
