Another AFAD resident in Paris is Ľudmila H. Machová
Since the beginning of April, Ľudmila H. Machová, a graduate of Klaudia Kosziba's painting Studio mal+by (2017), has been spending her three-month artistic residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris.
In addition to painting, which oscillates between realism and abstraction, she also uses objects, installations, videos and sound compositions in her work. She incorporates locally found materials into her artworks: „The process of collecting becomes important as a way of creating an archive of traces of site-specific situations. I map transformative events where artificial space becomes natural and vice versa – natural becomes artificial. Another meaning of „transformation" also inspires me. It has to do with a certain temporality of cultural products, with the way these artificial objects change over time."
During her stay, she plans to develop this project around her Paris studio, where she will map visual situations: „I am planning to focus on the zone of the city in the proximity of my Parisian studio. I would like to create small or even miniature objects using different media like painting, sculpture, or photography. Visually the work would be elaborating on the aesthetic language of my latest project Archivist of hybrids.”
