CANCELLED: Closing Event and Catalogue Launch of Instead Of
ANNOUNCEMENT: We are very sorry to announce that tomorrow's closing event (13.09.) has been CANCELLED. We have taken this decision due to our concerns over the reported weather forecasts and feel that this is the responsible solution to the potential dangers, as we do not know how the building would behave in such extreme conditions with so much movement. We apologise. It is in our interest to take a responsible approach to the recommendations made by the SHMU. Don't expect a replacement event probably just yet. We hope you understand. :-(

DESCRIPTION:
Instead of... whose place? Instead of what? Instead of something? Who knows, probably all sorts of things. That's what this exhibition is all about. Instead of someone's nothing, there is another artistic something. Visual matter flows into all the cracks of our place, from which the practical purpose has long since been retired. We add another layer to the patina of the building's timeline. We complement the ever-present dramatic battle between mould and plaster with a new 'interior'. The individual rooms are thus filled with fanciful imaginings, the absent bodies of beings that were never there. The memory of place is emphasised as a memory carried and mediated by surface and materiality. A new nature that penetrates even through the already tightly closed windows. But also the images and paintings that appear in places where others may have been before. In this way, our exhibition joins for a moment the ongoing processes inside the abandoned building.
- The partner of the event is the Hradby Samoty festival.
