“Hideouts” or “Rest Zones” explore possibilities of layering, variable shaping, movement, haptic experience, as well as the relationship between rigid construction and soft wrapping in the typology of the “small” (cocoon, bunker, niche, boudoir, nest…). A cocoon is a protective cover created by certain species of insects in the pupal stage. It serves as a shelter during their development into adult form. What stages of maturation and transformation can a cocoon respond to for a child, when it becomes a refuge and at the same time a shell for dynamic transformations?

The aim of the project is to produce three prototypes / objects / spatial interventions for three schools in the Trenčín region. The project also includes further activities: a study trip, lectures by mental-health professionals and special-education teachers about the needs of pupils with special needs, as well as workshops and lectures by architects and designers dedicated to playful spaces.
