The cultural strike is a coordinated movement of the cultural scene in Slovakia, the goal of which is to stop the devastating interventions of the leadership of the Slovak Ministry of Culture in culture at all its levels.
The cultural strike requires competent and professional management of the department, which respects the freedom, rights and expertise of the people working in the department and contributes to the improvement of the conditions for the creation and operation of culture in Slovakia.
Demand 1:
We demand the provision of professional and competent management of the department of culture and the immediate cessation of purposeful and destructive changes in this department
Demand 2:
We demand an immediate stop to ideologically motivated censorship with economic impacts, which are the consequences of the amendment of the Act on AVF, the Act on FPU of Art, the Act on Museums and Galleries and the Act on STVR.
Demand 3:
We demand immediate financial stabilization of the sector with an emphasis on improving the financial evaluation of workers and their social security, across a range of established and unincorporated institutions and individuals, whether they have the status of employees or SZČO.
The main purpose of the Cultural Strike is to create a solidarity network across the entire cultural sphere and increase public pressure on political representation to solve the critical situation in the cultural sector.
