Svätopluk Mikyta: From Book to Book
The Department of Theory and History of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design warmly invites you to a lecture by Svätopluk Mikyta.

Annotation
The presentation by Svätopluk Mikyta will be an authorial probe into artistic, printing, and production practices. It will introduce a reflection on the hidden potentials of existing books as well as the creation of new artist books/artbooks. For the author, the book is a fundamental source and starting point of his artistic practice. His approach to working with books, including motifs of appropriation and re-reproduction, will be presented through the example of the artist’s book Homo viator. The presentation will also include selected examples of artbooks from Štokovec publishing house/BSC.
Svätopluk Mikyta
Svätopluk Mikyta is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart, and a DAAD scholarship holder at the Universität der Künste Berlin. In 2008, he received the Oskár Čepan Award, granted to a young Slovak artist. He completed a residency at ISCP New York and received the Central European Strabag Art Award. Since 2011, he has led the Drawing and Printmaking Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology. Alongside his artistic and teaching practice, he is active as a curator and dramaturg of the residency platform Banská St a nica Contemporary, which he co-founded with Zuzana Bodnárová. He lives and works in Central Slovakia.
