New Interfaces 04/Maja Štefančíková – Emotional Landscape: performativity, empathy and ecology of co-existence
The lecture is based on the project of offline assemblage and explores how relationships between species, environments and things are shaped through performative situations, corporeality and focused attention. It is interested in sensitivity as a way of knowing and being together, in which the boundaries between the human and the non-human become permeable. The world here appears as a network of mutual touches, dependencies and forms of care.

Maja Štefančíková is a visual artist and performer who creates temporary performative situations, mainly through movement and voice. She explores the body as a node of relationships in space and time – her works connect contemplation with playfulness. She creates long-lasting actions with fixed choreography that sensitively respond to stimuli from the environment. She currently works at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she leads the Performance Laboratory.
The leitmotif of the fourth edition of the lecture series New Interfaces 04 is the body and physicality in the age of digital technologies. We are interested in the themes of corporeality, but also the sublimation of the corporeal in digital interfaces, non-normative bodies, the animality of corporeality or the memory of the body, which artists discuss in their works in various media and forms.
