About the lecture
Karina Kottová, director of the Czech platform for contemporary art - the Jindřich Chalupecký Society, in her presentation on several selected projects, will present the internal and external functioning of this organization and the principles on which it bases its activities - especially collectivity, horizontality, ethics, cooperation and also authenticity. How can such values be reflected in the organization of art appreciation, and is it even possible or correct? And how did they shape the transformation of this institution from the organizer of the most famous Czech prize for artists into a multi-layered institution that creates its own curatorial, discursive, educational and publication program? In the presentation and subsequent discussion, long-term projects of SJCH will be presented, such as the exhibition, research and publication project Not Just a Nuclear Family, or the international platform Islands of Kinship, which also includes the Slovak organization Július Koller Society.
The lecture is part of the grant KEGA 001 VŠVU – 4 / 2022 Contemporary thinking about exhibitions and curation
