Annotation
In the past, women in the architectural profession were exceptional. Our first female architects, mapped by Professor Henrieta Moravčíková in her research, built many well-known public buildings, but their names have mostly been forgotten, as have the prejudices they had to face in their careers. Today, almost 70 percent of girls study at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of STU. Does this mean that future woman architects and designers have already won it in our society, that they will not encounter any systemic problems in their future workplaces when combining a demanding profession with family life? What is the position of women in Slovakia and especially in the academic environment? Are the gender equality strategies adopted by public institutions in Slovakia in recent years just formal documents or can they really bring about change?
Discussions about vulnerable groups We sat down are part of the project EMIA - Empathy in art, which was supported by grants from the EEA and the state budget with the aim of supporting diverse activities of the creative center FAD STU. The name of the format expresses not only joint "sitting" on the bench, but also "sitting down" in the sense of finding common sympathy or empathizing with each other's problems.
