Adéla Svobodová: Book. Text and Image.
The Department of Theory and History of Art at AFAD invites you to a lecture by Adéla Svobodová: Book. Text and Image.
Room No. 135, Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18
Lecture abstract:
Can graphic design influence not only the visual appearance of an art-historical book, but also its structure and the way it is read? Where did the rules that the academic world expects us to follow come from? The book as a combination of text and image. Drawing on examples from my own practice and on the topic of my dissertation, which focuses on the history of art-historical publications, I will present an approach to thinking about the book that focuses on its structure, shaped not only by graphic design, but also by printing technology and authorship.
