Women of AFAD: Ľuba Belohradská

We are publishing the fourth episode of our Women of AFAD podcast series, this time with art theorist, curator and former AFAD pedagogue Ľuba Belohradská.

After teaching at other universities in Slovakia, Ľuba Belohradská started teaching art history at the AFAD in 1990. Among other things, Ľuba Belohradská was the first theorist to focus on Slovak women sculptors, including Erna Masarovičová and later Group 4, among others.

In an interview with Zuzana Golianová, she returns to the period of the nineties, to the nature of the teaching of theoretical subjects at the art school, as well as to the post-revolutionary changes that occurred at teh AFAD after 1989. She also reflects on her position as a woman in the often male environment of art theory, on the dissatisfaction with the defined "female" world of the household and also mentions her colleagues, predecessors Alžbeta Güntherová-Mayerová and Ľudmila Peterajová.

Women of AFAD: Women about work, practice and things that matter is a series of podcasts that we prepared on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the AFAD in cooperation with Zuzana Golianová. Every Tuesday throughout October and November, you can look forward to a new interview with one of our school's former and current pedagogues, who reflect on the history and development of the AFAD through the eyes of women.
