Women of AFAD: Milota Havránková
We present to you the last episode (for now) of a series of podcasts dedicated to women - current and former teachers of the AFAD and their perspective on the history and present of our school. In this episode, Zuzana Golianová spoke with photographer and professor Milota Havránková.
After studying at FAMU in Prague and teaching at high school, Milota Havránková began working at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in 1991, where she was instrumental in the establishing of the Department of Photography. During her time at our school, where she led the Fine Arts Photography Studio, she influenced and pedagogically guided many contemporary photographers, many of them later became our colleagues.
In the interview, she talks about her work, in which she often reflects on the theme of women, as well as about strong women in her environment. She recalls her pedagogical beginnings also from the position of a woman and a photographer, when she had to create the teaching concept herself, since until then photography had not been taught separately as an autonomous subject in our environment.
Women of AFAD: Women about work, practice and things that matter is a series of podcasts that we prepared on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the AFAD in cooperation with Zuzana Golianová. Every Tuesday throughout October and November, you can look forward to a new interview with one of our school's former and current pedagogues, who reflect on the history and development of the AFAD through the eyes of women.
