Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we inform the AFAD academic community and the public that Mgr. art. Daniel Janec, an AFAD alumnus and colleague from the Department of Sculpture, passed away unexpectedly on 17 July 2026 at the age of 56.

Daniel Janec was a master of the craft of bronze casting and, with his characteristic kindness, guided several generations of AFAD students as they learned this technique.

The final farewell will take place on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, at 2:45 p.m. at the cemetery of the Bratislava Crematorium.

The bereaved family kindly asks mourners to celebrate his life by wearing light or colourful clothing and not to bring flowers.
