Mičurin is home
The Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava will lease the iconic Mičurin building from the city — a place that served the education of children and young people for many decades. We would like to restore Mičurin’s original mission and return it to children and young people, while also making the space available to our students and doctoral candidates.
We will organize courses, workshops and summer schools in art and environmental education in cooperation with civic associations and municipal organizations, as well as other expert partners. Cultural and educational activities will open the doors of Mičurin to the wider public as well.
We imagine Mičurin as a vibrant cultural and educational environment shared by the school and the city — a place reflecting the openness, freedom and values of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. We are open to communication, cooperation and building a community around Mičurin.
We declare that the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava will take over the building under a five-year lease in good faith and with positive energy, with the aim of filling this exceptional building with creative content.
We reject any attempt to turn the school into a tool for scoring cheap political points in pre-election struggles.
