Medvedí vodičák

My sme les, an organisation dedicated to protecting Slovakia’s forests, has launched the online project Medvedí vodičák. Students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (AFAD) also contributed to its development under the guidance of their teachers.

Medvedí vodičák aims to improve practical knowledge about bears. It offers an engaging way for everyone, from complete beginners to more experienced participants, to learn about bear behaviour, securing property and preventing conflicts. A beta version is currently available to the public.

The project is more than a knowledge quiz. It teaches people how to behave in areas where bears live, how to prevent risky situations and what to do when encountering a bear. The Medvedí vodičák website contains more than 300 questions.

AFAD students and alumnae worked on the project’s visual and communication design under the guidance of Michal Tornyai from Visual Communication and Tomáš Klepoch from Graphics and Other Media:

Adrián Dvorský, Ester Mládenková, Charlota Horáková, Jakub Kováč, Linda Berkyová, Tomáš Paulen, Chiara Nemethová and Samo Kraner.

My sme les is a civic initiative that has brought people together to protect Slovakia’s forests since 2017. With strong support from the public, partner organisations and experts, it has helped stop logging across thousands of hectares, increase the area of national parks left to develop without human intervention, and raise awareness of the importance of wilderness. It works towards a healthy landscape for future generations and coexistence between people and wild animals.
