Industrial Design Studio nominated for Best school presentation at the 28th Designblok in Prague
In addition to the Grand Prix, which this year’s Designblok Awards jury chaired by Max Fraser decided to award to all exhibiting students, the Industrial Design Studio was nominated for Best school presentation, placing it among the three best student installations.
The LightLight installation, led by Boris Belan and Eva Mikulášová, presented collections of lighting fixtures created over the past three years as part of studio assignments.
In a smaller market with limited industrial infrastructure, designers often also take on the roles of production initiator, collaboration coordinator or founder of their own brand. This model supports the emergence of smaller, flexible production platforms and small-batch manufacturing, enabling a more sensitive response to local needs and sustainability.
The collections of table lamps and pendant lights on display are examples of small-batch production controlled by their designers. Each project is an independent exploration of design practice, taking into account the availability of materials, processing technologies and the use of standardised components.
