Discussion with President Zuzana Čaputová at the AFAD
On Tuesday, 29 April 2025, President Zuzana Čaputová visited us at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. In addition to a tour of the school, she discussed with our students the topics that interest them most as a young generation.
Together with students and academic staff, we presented our school to President Zuzana Čaputová through selected study programmes such as Digital Arts, Design, and Restoration. We visited studios representing the diversity of artistic disciplines offered by our school.
Students Linda Várošová and Zuzana Šupolová, along with Martin Druska, then led a discussion on topics relevant to them as members of the young generation and university students in Slovakia. They talked about communication and polarization in our society, the potential of art to connect diverse opinion groups, as well as inclusion and the topic of emigration in the current social climate. Among other things, they asked how art students and the upcoming generation of artists can help preserve a free creative environment, or how to approach discussions on divisive topics.
We thank the President and our students for a pleasant and thought-provoking discussion!
On the same day, we also held our traditional Anti-Stress Picnic for everyone at AFAD. Before diving into end-of-semester preparations, we enjoyed a barbecue, performances, and DJs Oosh, Carl., and Vach together.
