Art courses for children in cooperation between GMB and AFAD

After the departure of the staff from the Department of Gallery Pedagogy of the Slovak National Gallery, their art course for children will continue with the support of the Bratislava City Gallery and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava directly in the premises of these two institutions.

The Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and the Bratislava City Gallery support the staff leaving the Slovak National Gallery, who, due to unsustainable working conditions caused by the unprofessional leadership of the director in charge, Jaroslav Niňaj, and his predecessors, have submitted a collective resignation with effect from 1 April 2025. The GMB and AFAD are joining forces to maintain professionally prepared and publicly popular projects – in this case, ART COURSES FOR CHILDREN. The continuity of public education in interaction with art is important for both institutions, which is why they have decided to move the courses to their premises.

Gallery educators will continue their courses from mid-April until the end of the school year at GMB and AFAD. This allows them to continue working with the youngest generation, who will learn about art directly through GMB’s exhibitions, as well as in studios with university students and faculty or in public spaces around the center of Bratislava.
