New Interfaces 04/ Romuald Demidenko – Stories of the Other

We cordially invite you to a lecture from the New Interfaces 04 series.

MEDIUM Gallery, Hviezdoslavovo námestie 18, Bratislava

The event will be introduced by Romuald Demidenko, starting with a lecture that will evolve into a conversation. The topic will be Kuba Stępień’s exhibition All the stories I have ever told you were fiction. Through a performative dialogue with the concept of autofiction (McKenzie Wark), Stępień's work encourages reflection on the creation of other artists and prompts us to think about how narrative forms and (non-verbal) language can contribute to the creation of imagined platforms for expressing both individual and collective voices.

How can language amplify the visibility and transmission of the voices of the “other”?

*The lecture will be held in English.

Romuald Demidenko is a curator of exhibitions and public programs, whose work engages with interdisciplinary, collective, environmental, and intersectional theories and approaches. He completed postgraduate studies in Curatorial Studies at the KASK School of Arts & Conservatorium in Ghent and holds a Master's degree in art history from the University of Wroclaw. He is currently based between Warsaw, Słupsk, and Ustka (PL).

The leitmotif of the fourth edition of the lecture series New Interfaces 04 is the body and physicality in the age of digital technologies. We are interested in the themes of corporeality, but also the sublimation of the corporeal in digital interfaces, non-normative bodies, the animality of corporeality or the memory of the body, which artists discuss in their works in various media and forms.

Supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council.
