Annotation
Czech artist Maud Kotasová (1980) traveled all over Europe in a truck and lived in the middle of the Catalan Pyrenees. Later she returned to Brno (CZ), where she continued her work associated with nomadism, wandering life, listening to the world and people around. She embroiders on various metal ready-mades, from the body of a truck, the door of a car or a tin trash can, but she also doesn't forget to embroider on a fence in a public space. Embroidery in her work becomes a conceptual language to tell almost autobiographical stories. Real people and their stories are objects of her interest, as well as random passers-by, but especially workers who have spent their working lives in the bowels of an industrial colossus. The author captures fragments from conversations, moments and stories, observed and her own. Each locker represents a real human story, a derivative of human existence. Lockers have become a symbol of transience, loneliness and resignation. Losers remain losers, some losers become heroes. The exhibited objects carry strong layers of bitter but also ordinary stories. Kotasova's artistic language emphasizes shabby aesthetics, and as a visual storyteller, she does not deal with invented constructs.
