One Day Every Day (2022)

is an ironic commentary on various social norms affecting our daily lives. Common routine, gender stereotypes and role-playing (depicted in the book as "wearing masks") are a few examples of a cultural code that, on the one hand, binds society together, but on the other hand imposes often unwanted social pressure affecting individual freedom. In this book, the author looks for the border where (otherwise useful) patterns of behavior become pathological.

The book One Day Every Day made it to the shortlist of the 35 best photography books of the Paris Photo - Aperture Photobook Awards, which is one of the most sought-after awards for photography publications in the world.

Zuzana Pustaiová (*1990)

is a graduate of the Department of Photography and New Media, where she completed her doctoral studies in January 2022. In her work, Pustaiová develops questions of roles and role stereotypes in contemporary society as a basic element that shapes relationships between family members, relatives, friends and other social groups. With a sense of humor and irony, he uncovers cultural stereotypes linked to age, gender, traditions and social influences. Pustaiová has won numerous awards in the field of contemporary photography and in 2018 she was awarded as Photographer of the Year. She exhibited at a number of exhibitions at home and abroad.

Double Sided Project

is the result of a collaboration between the VŠVU Department of History and Theory of Art, the VŠVU Academic Library and the MEDIUM Gallery, which primarily focuses on the presentation of the book as a medium that combines literature with visual art. The double page includes lectures, performances, readings or other creative outputs of authors from the field of visual arts who have chosen a book as a means of expanding their work. We want to bring the possibilities of author access and "reading" closer to library and gallery visitors.
