Annotation
"No one is here for art," said one unnamed teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. So what are we there for? Why does anyone study or teach at an art college today?
Art education is considered a specific and fragile educational environment, which in recent years in Slovakia and the Czech Republic has received more attention, mainly due to cases of bullying and harassment. However, discussions about mental health, activism, the mechanisms of art education or the (un)usefulness of art schools are also alive on its soil.
We will talk with teachers and students of various art fields about what motivates them to study and work at art schools, what their aforementioned uniqueness is, how the educational system is changing and should change. During the discussion, we will present the new issue of the monthly Kapitál, which is published on October 16 with the theme of Art Education.
