Jama Festival – 77th edition of Milan Adamčiak
We invite you to the next edition of the JAMA festival in Banská Belá and Banská Štiavnica, which will take place this Friday and Saturday, October 13 and 1. As part of the rich program, you can experience, among other things, a lecture and performance by Jana Kapelová, head of the Department of Intermedia and the Studio of Intermedia, or the results of the micro-residency of our photography student Richard Hronský.
JANA KAPELOVÁ (SK)
\PERFORMANCE\LECTURE
Jana Kapelová is a visual artist, teacher, curator and cultural activist. In her work, she deals with topics such as work and precarization, free time and self-realization, the influence of the social and cultural environment, upbringing and education on individuals and society. In her artistic practice, she mainly works with the medium of video, installation, text, participatory art and delegated performances, using mainly the formats of author's research and interviews. She was an active member of the artistic initiatives Twenty years since Velvet didn’t happen (2010-2012) and Stojíme pri kultúre (2019). She studied at the Faculty of Education of the University of Trnava, the Faculty of Fine Arts in Banská Bystrica, the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. She worked as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and currently co-leads the Studio of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. In 2014, she became a laureate of the Oskár Čepan Award.
At JAMA 77, she will perform in the joint performance What I See When You Look Through Me with Peter Tilajčík and in the lecture and performance Rotating Happiness.
Performance What I see when you look through me explores the material essence, properties and relationality of glass. Metaphorically, in short etudes, whose main actors and actresses are glass containers guided by the hands of a performer, she talks about transparency, unconditionality, openness, toxicity, affection, hardness, kindness, depth, habit, fear, hope...
Together with her son Kozmas Moravčík, she tries to offer effective means to achieve a feeling of happiness in Rotating Happiness. By means of practical instructions of popularization science, they will inform viewers about the influence of the so-called foursome hormones of happiness (dopamine, endorphin, serotonin and oxytocin) for our survival. At the same time, however, they reflect that the desire for happiness and joy is no longer only the domain of philosophy and morality, but also of biochemistry and business. How to induce a feeling of joy? How to keep them long-term? Is it possible to become addicted to them?

RICHARD HRONSKÝ (SK)

Richard about himself: "I have been Richard Hronský since 2002. As a child, many things attracted and pleased me. The playfulness and lack of understanding of what I was doing have persisted with me until now. At the same time, I am primarily dedicated to organizing the collective exhibitions VYSTAVENISKO, OSVIT, (2022), ROZPTYL (2023) and a music/sound project under my name (album Konspekt, 2022). I've been producing music since 2015 (blime project, 2018-2023), I also draw, paint, play instruments, and even take photos. In the summer months, we hold CREA-TOURS (2021, 2022) (creating while hiking in a group). My work fascinates me with the mystery, later the degradation of man and his strangeness. Since 2020, I have been regularly participating in collective exhibitions and creative symposia. I work here and there so that all the above-mentioned joyful things can be, and at the same time I study at the Department of Photography and New Media at the AFAD."
On the occasion of JAMA 77, Richard will work for a week in Banská Belá as the crew of the first JAMA (micro)residency together with suburban drifter and peripheral researcher Jürgen Rendl. At the residence, they will explore and respond to local and non-local pits, phenomena and other finds, do a lot of walking and a little bit of hitchhiking. The output from it will be presented as part of the JAMA 77 main program.
