Transitioning LANDscapes Conference

The conference, held within the framework of the Creative Europe project, addresses the question of how the landscape is changing under the pressure of the climate crisis and how art, ecology, and social reflection respond to these changes.

The conference, organized as part of the Creative Europe project, focuses on the question of how the landscape transforms under the pressure of the climate crisis and how these transformations are reflected in art, ecology, and social discourse. Over three days, experts from the fields of art, science, philosophy, and activism will gather in Žilina and Rajec to explore new perspectives, examine possibilities of artistic responses to the climate crisis, and shape collective visions of the future. The program includes lectures, discussions, artistic expeditions, and site-specific performances.

  • Eco-Emotions: Climate Anxiety, Climate Courage – Evanne Nowak (NL), Rita Hoofwijk (NL), Jakub Hrbáň (SK), Dávid Koronczi (SK) (October 24, morning)
  • Ecological Justice: Art as a Tool for Change – Rudolf Sikora (SK), Kate Wood (UK), Judit Gébert (HU) and others (October 24, afternoon, free entry)
  • Performative ExpeditionsAnton Čierny, Jaroslav Kyša, and students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (October 23–24)
  • Final Site-Specific Performance: Waiting for the Water Sprite – Rara Woulib (FR) (October 25, 10:30 a.m.), Rajec, free entry

The conference will be held in English, with interpretation into Slovak on the first day.
