Annotation:

With this exhibition, we aim to present the contemporary possibilities of displaying an artwork that has undergone several major transformations over three centuries. The painting by Baroque artist Jozeph Zanussi, depicting *The Temptation of St. Anthony the Hermit*, originally featured numerous demonic creatures and tempters. However, shortly after its creation, it underwent significant compositional changes. This may have been an intentional effort to suppress the disturbing effect of the painting or an illustrative example of the artist's ideological shift from the baroque multiplicity and dynamism to classical restraint and monumentality.

During the restoration process, several questions arose regarding the appropriate approach to a work with such a specific context. In the past decade, the field of material research in artworks has seen significant advancements in possibilities, technical solutions, and methodologies for analyzing cultural heritage materials and objects. The development of non-invasive methods has profoundly influenced the fields of art theory and history, as it shapes interpretative perspectives on artworks. We believe that such innovative ways of presenting visual art open up a much wider range of possibilities and encourage us to view artworks in a completely new light.
