Annotation
This time, five representatives of young Slovak painting will visit Týn. The key to selecting the works of the exhibiting artists is not only their diversity or original visuality. For Rastislav Podhorský, the curator of the exhibition, the decisive elements are the unseen yet present painterly processes. These are the very procedures through which painting is created, and through which the artist increasingly becomes a painter.
Rastislav Podhorský is, first and foremost, one of the leading figures of young Slovak painting. With the same intensity, he is also a thinker, theorist, and head of the Delta Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He guides his students toward an analytical and critical reflection on painting, taking into account the continuity of its past forms and their future probabilities.
In the ethos of this effort, the creative paths of Zuzana Mlynárčiková, Marek Burcl, Timotej Kosmel, Juraj Kadlečík, and Matúš Novosad intersect. Their *In Search of Lost Time* freely connects deep approaches to the stories of painting—more vital than fleeting trends in the art world. Moreover, such works that genuinely unfold may even withstand the increasing gusts of adversity in today’s Slovak cultural scene. Let us, brothers and sisters, wish them this resilience wholeheartedly.
