Annotation
The tenth edition of the *Sculpture in the City X* project focuses on the reflection of public space through artistic reinterpretation of abandoned objects that lack artistic, design, or historical value: old lighting fixtures, city planters, or fragments of sculptures... These once-functional elements, which lost their place for aesthetic, ideological, or practical reasons, often end up in the grey zones of public spaces or the back shelves of storage rooms — on the border of oblivion and new existence. Through temporary artistic installations, artists Radovan Čerevka, Matej Gavula, Patrik Kovačovský, and Marcin Berdyszak explore the potential for meaningful or aesthetic resuscitation of found objects, recording the quiet traces of transformation in our environment.
The first part of the tenth edition of *Sculpture in the City* focuses on the artistic reinterpretation of forgotten objects in public space – such as old lighting and city planters – that have lost both function and place.
Artists Matej Gavula, Patrik Kovačovský, Marcin Berdyszak, and Júlia Káčerová revive these objects through temporary installations, exploring their potential as bearers of new meanings.
